Hi so like this is me living in lustrous, humid Hawaii without my perfect hair care cocktail. I was straight up called Medusa and the girl with the hair! It's okay, enjoy the frizzed out massive mess. Yikes!
Finding the perfect hair cocktail for my hair seemed merely impossible. It took me years to find the right products that worked for my hair. I used to go around with dry poofy locks (ahem, see above) desperate to find better hair care. These are products that have literally saved me, allowed me to wear my hair naturally without the worry or the frizz, and finally proud of my thick, coarse hair. Hallelujah!
Now, below is what has worked for me and what I am using at the moment. I have found others that work just as great but these are my current go-to's. I will update later when this changes (it will; the thing/myth about changing product every couple months so your hair doesn't get used to it is TRUE!). These products may not work for you but if you happen to have extremely thick, coarse hair with dry tendencies, I recommend all of these. I will say though being a hair stylist and being able to try lots of different product on tons of different hair, these generally could work for all of you as they have worked for many of my clients. Enjoy.
This has been my top shampoo ever since I started going to school at Paul Mitchell for cosmetology. It is super moisturizing without leaving your hair to feel "greasy." The scent is very strong, so choose this duo accordingly. The conditioner is pretty good at moisturizing, but I love me some deep conditioner so with trying not to compare it to a deep conditioner, it's a pretty darn good conditioner.
I literally cannot say enough about this deep conditioner; I have never been able to find another that even comes close, and trust me with my dry hair, I have tried a ton! I just leave it on while I shave and wash my face and always, always rinse with the coolest water I can handle to help lock all that moisture in by closing my hair's cuticle. Try it! It's worth the minute of shivers. Might I add, this is only sold in certain states at certain salons so I buy mine from amazon or whenever I'm in Utah.
Okay so I have usedthis stuff for I don't know, forever and you know how I said earlier about switching around products so your hair doesn't get used to them? Well I just can't switch off of this one! It is my holy grail to my natural hairstyles. I buy the huge bottle and just keep filling a spray bottle since I go through it so fast (or so it seems!) I spray it on after towel-dried hair (only mid-shaft to ends) and voila!:)
Oh Onesta, an all natural hair care line that is excellent for us with big poofy hair. I discovered this in Hawaii at the salon I worked at and oh my heavens, the wonders! The faster drying, the decreased frizz, the smooth texture, the ever-lasting bottle, the great price point, I don't think I will EVER stop using this stuff. If there is one product to try, this is it! PS- never apply this to your hair dry, just don't. Trust me:) Wet only!
Okay so I HATE "Moroccan oil," strong word I know. It only made my hair dryer and at a $50 and up price point, hard pass. In came this little beauty, I love this oil; it just feels great on your hair with all the right things: no greasiness, no residue, and truly repairs your hair while being a styling product. What else could you want! I apply this on my ends up to four times a week without washes in between and have never noticed a "build-up."

Our sweet cat, Kai passed away. She was the sweetest, fluffiest, most Queen Bee cat I've ever known. She took over territory when our other cats passed and knew she was adored and loved; she basked in it. She would wake us up at night knowing I would grab her and pet her no matter what time of night, would love on kids like you've never seen, and convinced cat haters to be cat lovers with her whit and nonchalant attitude. We got her along with her sister when we moved to Idaho after spending two years in Hawaii; her name came from Ian and I's favorite beach: LaniKAI. Later, we started calling her Kaiser Permanente (a prestigious hospital from the town I grew up in).
I'll let you in on a secret; when Ian and I first were married and got our first two cats, whenever I would have a bad day or what have you, I would run to our cats. They brought so much comfort and sweetness to any situation. Later I found out this bothered Ian as I ran to our kitties instead of running to him. Whoops! Now I know some of you may think that that is dumb, but it's what happened and how I coped. I can't tell you how much I love those kitties. The worst part is she is our third cat to pass in one year and four months. Diva (black and white) passed October 2014, Turbo (orange and white) September 2015, and now Kai (grey and white) February 2016. My Dad passed away November last year so you can imagine my shock. That's THREE CATS AND MY DAD in one year and four months!! At first, she went missing. I/We have been calling for her every half hour the past three days, waking up throughout the night in fear of where she might have went to and go outside to call for her. We drove around, asked multiple neighbors, looked in weird places, etc. Well Ian came home early yesterday so we could search for her in the daylight better and we found her under our deck. At first I was mad, like pissed really. What in the world am I supposed to learn from this?! Again, really?! With every difficult situation, we always try and think "what am I supposed to learn from this?" I thought Diva and Turbo were preparing me for my Dad's passing but now I just don't know. I was MAD! Then my sweet husband (as we were burying her) said "at least she's with her sister now." My heart wrenched and there came all the joys of the Gospel racing back to me. I've learned through my Dad's passing (and cats) that it is okay to see someone go. To be honest and I hate admitting this, each cats death and especially my Dad's, have made me stronger. I have realized my reliance on the Gospel with each passing and appreciate God's plan of happiness allowing all of us to be with our families (and kitties!:)) again. This doesn't mean I still wonder why in the heck this had to happen, but I am at least grateful to be able to look forward to being with them again. Below are images of our sweet Kaiser. She will be truly missed. Enjoy.

I don't know why it's so hard to find good recipes these days. Sure there's always the generic allrecipes.com or cooks.com but they aren't as healthy or have the authenticity of home cooking. Maybe it's just me, but because of this reason, I resort a lot of my time to other people's blogs to find recipes. Unfortunately there's been way too many that didn't turn out but for the ones that did, oh baby is it prime time! This post is dedicated to sharing my husband and I's absolute favorite recipes (that we found on Pinterest) and have made time and time again! Enjoy!
Note: I do not claim any of these recipes as my own and will link the affiliate links to where we got the recipes from(:
BETTER THAN RESTAURANT tomato soup! Oh this stuff is SO GOOD and SO EASY! It definitely isn't the healthiest recipe with the cream and butter but not horrible for you either. It literally (to me) tastes so much better than any restaurant tomato soup I have ever had.
Serves: 6 people Ingredients
Instructions
Notes -If you're planing to freeze the soup, after blending it with a blender, scoop out the amount of soup you want to freeze BEFORE adding the cheese and heavy cream. Will keep frozen in an airtight container for 6 months.
Dijon Chicken! I can't even tell you how many times we have made this! We always have the ingredients on hand and it is the perfect blend of sweet and tangy. LOVE! The recipe was taken down by the author but I have it from our recipe book.
Ingredients
-We always add onions and squash/zucchini (or some other vegetable) 20 minutes before the chicken is done cooking. Gotta love one dish meals!
Garlic parmesan salmon and asparagus foil pack! Again just so easy and tastes oh SO good. My husband doesn't even like fish but he better tolerated it with the garlic parmesan. I on the other hand LOVE fish and this was delicious!

Avocado and white bean salad (with vinaigrette!) We love the light taste of this salad with fewer calories due to the vinaigrette! SO easy and we have made larger portions that have stored well in our fridge for a few days!
Salad base:
Baked Boiled eggs! The most simple, guaranteed way to make "boiled eggs." I know this is a silly recipe to include but it just makes the perfect boiled eggs every single time. I also love that I don't have to watch over the stove so the water doesn't boil over.
Instructions
The easiest banana chocolate chip muffins (that are healthy! WHAT!) These are our fave cause all we have to do is throw everything in our Vitamix, blend, add chocolate chips, and pour! We also seem to have a serious problem with never finishing bananas before they're icky brown so this recipe makes sure we don't waste them.
Yields: 12 muffins Ingredients
Instructions
-We didn't have Greek yogurt on hand so we substituted for cottage cheese and it still was delicious!
HEALTHY no-bake cookies! Who doesn't love a good old-fashioned no bake? These taste just like unhealthy no bakes and are soooo much better for you! Bonus-my husband couldn't even tell the difference! Score!
