I have truly been on a dress kick lately but hate that they don't offer as much versatality-you know, people know you wore the same thing three days in a row, but it's less obvious if it's just a t-shirt;) you get it. But since dresses have been my jam as of late, here are ways to add versatality to them-without people knowing about the repeats every sunday, for the most part!:) Make it more casual-add leggings, boots, and a military jacket! Show off just the dress with minimal accessories- a necklace and boots! Classy casual-throw over a light sweater on top! Adds dimension without the bulk! Photos taken by: Stephanie Steed<3

I am always looking for easy on-the-go snacks that don't contain sugar or preservatives. Check these out! DE-LISH!:) I LOVE coconut-ever since I lived in Hawaii and these taste fresh with the rind and everything but are dried. Best part? Ingredients: JUST coconut! Found at TJ Maxx $4 Ian actually picked these out and Mmmmm! Popcorn, coconut oil, and Himalayan salt, that's it! YUM! $2.50 on sale at Smith's (local grocer) or saw them on Amazon! I don't usually like dried fruit since it's usually soggy and wrinkly, just like my gym socks. EW! BUT these dried apples are SO crunchy and SO good! INGREDIENTS: JUST apples! $3 TJ Maxx We love fruit snacks around here and these fruit leathers only have fruit concentrate in them! SO good!
$10, 48 count box at Costco! A trip down memory lane... As you can tell, I was that typical girl who experimented with my hair LIKE CRAZY while in beauty school (and thereafter). I was a double processed blonde, added lowlights, added highlights, added different peekaboo colors, added feathers, extensions, went brunette, went back brown kind of girl... and it went on. Well this was SIX years ago now, and since have been obsessed with long locks. It has been a true journey to get it this long (will talk more about how in a later post), but asking for this haircut means business when you're after long locks. Check it out. Okay so the goal, of course, is to get your hair extremely healthy and back to being thick. Cut wise, this means eliminating layers, bangs, and face framing cuteness. Now of course these aren't fully eliminated and I of course took baby steps but this is the ultimate goal.
LENGTH: I ALWAYS ask for MINIMAL length off (yes I make my stylist show me how much she is taking off as 1 inch is 5 inches is 7 inches as 2 inches to someone else...And I also kindly remind her that I shouldn't see any hair on the ground by the time we are done:) she's always gets this since she has long hair herself). But just DO NOT ask for a centimeter or inch off. Have her SHOW you it before cutting. I'm talking MINIMAL trim off the length. (Keep in mind this is what I currently ask for; when my hair was still damaged, I would take off way more until I noticed decreased splitting). LAYERS: Then for the layers, I only want a MAX of a couple inches (actual inches-not a foot-also have her show you before cutting) from the bottom of my hair. I also asked for angled layers, as these grow out the most seamlessly, you don't cut into the hair as much, and they blend a whole lot better! FACE FRAMING: As for face framing, make sure she slide cuts only the smallest front section of your hair. This is a lot harder to explain but is CRUCIAL since I have corrected SO MANY cuts where their previous stylist dove into face framing layers and affected their length, not to mention created a large "V" when you look at their hair from behind. They should only take about an inch (less if you have fine or thin hair) and slide cut down gently so that they aren't "cutting" essentially, but just sliding. Most hair grows faster in the back (yes your hair grows at different lengths) so when you ask for face framing layers and too much is taken off, it takes WAY longer to get your face framing layers to catch up with your length. EXTRA LAYERING: If you are notorious for volume and/or this doesn't feel like enough layering for you, you can also ask for slide cutting layers. This is the same technique as face framing but you slide from above their head downwards towards the length to create the illusion of more volume and layers. This is a newer technique so only have your stylist do this if she knows what she is doing. You'll be able to tell when you ask for slide cutting layers and she does or doesn't know what you're talking about. So easy recap: MINIMAL length off, long angled layers starting 2 inches from the bottom, face framing layers without creating a "V," and slide cutting layers (if needed). Try it-you won't be disappointed!:) |
