Okay, okay!! I know it has been FOREVER since I've blogged and I'm here to tell you I am so sorry and I promise to be better:) Life has been absolutely insane, so I thought today was only appropriate to talk about life lately:) One of my favorite bloggers Mix and Match Mama does a lot of Life Lately posts and they're always my favoriiiiiite, so I thought I should start them too! Welllll where in the world do I even begin!? Ever since the end of July and school starting back up mid August, I have been on a whirlwind. I was called as the Relief Society President end of July (this is a volunteer calling in my Church that is a TON of work, but fun! :) ) As terrified as I was when they asked me, I knew this is what I was supposed to do and that I have been prepared to do this. Granted, I might have still asked our Bishop where his inspiration came from. ;) So that has put me into a complete whirlwind that I wasn't expecting whatsoever. Our ward is a married student ward so it's fun that we are all around the same age and stage of life and we have so many similarities in that way. But oh my goodness, has it been A LOT of work. I started out with 80 hour weeks getting everything prepared before I was even called and then decreased to 40 and am now happy to say I am in a better spot now not working on it so much. I absolutely love my calling though and that I am able to serve the Lord in this capacity. He has really REALLY used me as a tool in his hands to help the people of this ward (aka local church). We also finished our house! HALLELUJAH!!!!!!! This house flip turned into nonexistent date nights, only seeing Ian on Sundays, a lot of stress choosing this and that for the home, etc. BUT! It has also been so much fun to do it with Ian. We know the next few flips won't be like this for we have a better system now, but for awhile there, I felt like I was single again! Which kind of was okay; we both had SO much to do! I will explain all of this more but it is such a relief to have this home done and listed! We now are on the hunt for our next home to flip! :) More information can be found on our website HERE. Ian (my husband) is still working hard at his job (he is a project manager for a local construction company here) and we will still continue to flip homes and wholesale homes on top of what else we are doing! I can tell it's his ultimate passion and is quickly becoming one of mine too! I started my SENIOR YEAR of the nursing program in August! WAHOO!!! I couldn't have been more stoked to finish my final year, but also already had the worst senioritis EVER! Yes, it's a thing. :) My classmates and I all did not want to go back to school. Oh the dreadfulness of late night studying, all day clinicals, and nonexistent weekends: it's a little hard to welcome back. I've realized a lot of people don't know what clinical is though; it's kind of like an internship, but you have it every semester you are in school, on top of regular classes, homework, tests, and studying. This semester it's three days a week (sometimes four depending on how much you want to do) and you go all around the community (mainly in the hospital but you also go to places like WIC, Doctor's offices, and immunization clinics, etc.). It's an absolute blast (most days)!:) I am still going strong with all my hair clients doing their hair whenever I can fit them in my schedule! And for some reason, I have been getting A LOT of referrals lately so I have been doing a ton of hair! I specialize in hair painting/balayage so a good 80% + of my clients come to me for this. It's crazy that no one around Rexburg does this too (or at least that's what I've been told)! If you are ever in the Rexburg area, email me for an appointment at [email protected] ! I started selling Lipsense! I know, I'm crazy right!? Ha. Well it's this ALL DAY lasting lip color that literally doesn't smudge, budge, kiss off, or even come off in the water! I quickly became obsessed after my friend sold me some so I decided to sell it to get a ton of colors for free! If you want to do that to, just email me:) It's super easy and kind of my outlet for fun! I've gotten lots of my friends hooked on it too :) If you want to check it out or order, message me or comment through Facebook HERE. You can also email me about it too. After we officially finished our house, we went on a celebratory date :) Some of my carpool buddies from school :) Reviewing all our skills from last year's labs! We helped plan and organize our friend's adoption auction too. It was a blast and turned out pretty well for them! I am so stinkin excited for them to adopt!! I can't wait to see their baby! Learn more about their story HERE. I love when life is hectic but I would be lying if I said I've been able to handle all of this well. Ian is my literal saving grace through all of this. I've never had life be so busy (and that's saying something for you can ask my family-all growing up I was the busy bee, that never even wanted time to think!) but I know this is exactly what I am supposed to be doing, and for that I wouldn't want it any other way! Thank you so so much for stopping by; it means so much to see that I have still had a lot of my readers come visit my blog even while I have been away. I promise I will be better. I hope you've had a fantabulous Monday!
What have you been up to!? Leave your comment below! :)

Days 1 and 2 of my SUMMER NorCal trip!!! OMG SO MUCH FUN!!! Day 1: I got in super late from my flight since it was delayed 4 hours (Allegiant, you know) so I got in at 2am and slept for a few hours. I had a hair appointment the next morning early (thank you to the best hair stylist Christina!!!) so that I wouldn’t miss Anne’s bachelorette party and an early morning it was!! I jetted down to downtown Sacramento (from Roseville) and she started doing my hair at 7:30-I’m telling you this girl was a saint for me!! She finished right at 10:30 and I rushed over for the bachelorette party! Oh I was so excited we got done that quick since the party started at 10:30! We all got pedicures and had lunch at La Bou-if you haven’t tried it, see if there’s one in your area! It’s so so good! The baguette and dill sauce is my fave! It was so much fun to catch up with all my best childhood girlfriends! It’s so rare to see people stay friends for that long anymore. They were all my bridesmaid’s too so it was that much more special! Then 3 of us went to the mall to get some last minute tips on makeup for our friend’s big day! HAHA. This was so fun-we felt like we were all in high school again! We all bought way more than we needed. Then Abby and I continued to shop, met my Mom for sushi (Abby’s first time-WHAT. This turned out to be absolutely hilarious. Chopstick mayhem is all I have to say!), then went to Abby’s Grandma’s house and hung with her Mom. So good-all of their Mom's are like extensions of my Mom. Love love them all. Abby ran to the store to get distilled water for debloating hehe and grabbed lashes for me! I fell asleep and little did I know when she came back, her and my Mom ironed my dress together for forever until it was perfect. I have THE sweetest friends!! Aren't they absolutely GORGEOUS!? And deliciously single if you want some digits... just sayin! :) Day 2: One of my very best friends got married!!! Oh my goooooodness we were so excited!! We woke up at 6:15 so we could have plenty of time and of course it still wasn’t enough! Her wedding was at 10, we had to be there at 9:30, had 2 people to pick up on the way, and it’s 20 min away. So yeah, should’ve woken up earlier. Regardless, we got ready and I ended up doing a couple bridesmaids’ hair in the bathroom before the wedding. Our friend, Andrea (I call her Anne) and her fiancé chose to get married in the Sacramento LDS temple and I have to say this is the best decision EVER of how to start a marriage. We are all LDS (commonly known as Mormon) and the temple is a place where you not only get married, but it’s a place that makes your marriage last forever-we call it a sealing. You know the part in weddings where they say “til death do you part?” We don’t believe this has to be the case. In temples you are able to be sealed for eternity. It’s the most precious, beautiful thing. I’m SO glad Ian and I can be together forever. And if you were married civilly, you can still be sealed in the temple. Contact me:) Primed and ready:) Waiting and waiting... These girls are everything to me <3 Anyway, their sealing was absolutely beautiful as you could see how much love they shared for each other. After, we took pictures and pictures and then had a nice luncheon with all their family and the wedding party. Then, the 3 of us went off again and got stuff to decorate their car that night! This was so fun. We went to the Dollar Tree and Walmart and got anything and everything you can think of. We went way overboard and I wish we had pictures but it’s probably best that we don’t J Then we changed and helped finish with setup for their reception. The reception was so pretty and such Andrea’s style so it was perfect for them!! We danced, ate, you know the typical wedding stuff. Abby and I helped clean up the reception which was nice so we could talk to Sister Barrett. We then went to Lynsie’s house and had typical girl talk. I THINK something was funny:)
Soooo I herniated a disc in my back February of last year and my back unfortunately hasn't been the same since. The only thing that has helped me see some improvement are from these exercises, designed by my Physical Therapist (Adam at Rexburg Rehabilitation-he is excellent if you're in the area). My herniated disc is between L5 and S1, right at the prime of my lower back, which is a very common place to injure your back. Since then, so many of my friends have come to me with lower back pain as well and have asked what gave me relief. I show them these and it's a miracle every time:) I will say consistency is absolutely necessary though. I do these every single night (yes Saturday and Sunday too), for I have to in order to keep my back's strength up to allow it to heal. I also have worked up to these repetitions; I listed under each picture what I started with and where I am at now. I too, don't stop at all in between these workouts for I notice a bigger difference in my back's strength if I don't. So enjoy these more than awkward photos of me working out:) Hey, at least it's for your benefit! I hope they can help you! Plank: Start: 60 sec Now: 100 sec My bum is in the air on purpose-it hurts my back way too much to come down all the way. When I first started, I looked like a triangle. Start where your back doesn't hurt when you are in that position. Start: 20 reps Now: 70 reps each side This one makes you feel like an ultimate Grandma, but it's fine. You simply do the above and switch off which arm and foot you are lifting. I am only using 3lb weights here. Start: 15 reps Now: 30 reps This is to strengthen your core. Don't let your feet touch the ground throughout the exercise and bring your legs up slowlyyyy with a bend in between and then bring back down slowly and straight legged. Start: 15 reps (green band) Now: 30 reps (black band) each side Pretty straightforward. Stand on opposite side of the band with your foot. Pull up and across fast and slowly back down. Repeat. Also works even better if you tie a knot in the band and put it in the hinge of a doorway. Start: 10 reps Now: 30 reps This one is a total balancing act to help strengthen your back. It's a lot harder than it looks. Stay on your hands the whole time, using your core to bring your legs up with the ball and roll back. Start: 20 reps Now: 35 reps
Last but not least, the Angry Cat and Sad Camel (or whatever it is called). I forgot to get a photo of this, but you are on all four limbs on the floor and arch your back up as much as you can, and then sink your back into the ground as much as you can. This one always gives me such relief. Enjoy! I hope they help you!! |
